If you haven't guessed...

I am on a little Stylish Dish hiatus.  I am sorry that I have been such a delinquent blogger and I hope you will all come back when I step back in to fashion high gear this Spring.

Why the hiatus you ask?  Well, life has just caught up with me.  I am a working Mom with 2 kids (5 and 2) and when the day is done I have been flopping on the sofa with a big glass of Cab as opposed to hitting the computer.  Yes, my wardrobe is suffering. But, I vow to be back in action come Spring because I love Spring and Summer Fashion...oh and Fall and Winter too.

A peek at what is keeping me so busy...a pretty good (and cute) excuse I think (Photos by the fabulous Vinnie Y Photography)

Feeling Sporty

I'm doing something a little different for me and that's creating a casual, sporty look. It's odd that I don't create these more since I spend most of my days in lounge wear. I work out of a home office and have two small kids so I don't have that many occasions to throw on my heels and dresses (but when I find an occasion I'm all over it!)

This look was inspired by a few things things: the Lululemon Groove yoga pants I got for my birthday from my sister (thank you jen!), great Merrill Lorelei sneakers that I spotted while Christmas shopping, and a woman I saw at preschool drop-off in the most stylish white puffer vest (ah my exciting life! I kid - I truly love it.)

Now I will admit that the Lululemon is very expensive workout wear. Almost unbelievably so, I think. But, if you want to splurge on pants that are extra comfy AND flattering -- these are the ones. (The fantastic customer service at the Lululemon stores does not hurt either.)  These are great for the gym or yoga studio and for just running errands and lounging around the house.

Tangled! Necklaces that is ...

The other day I went to pic a necklace only to find a bunch of them knotted and tangled. A frustrating mess! I have always used jewelry boxes and now a jewelry drawer in my dresser but obviously this was not working for me.

So, I did a quick search for a necklace holder that would organize my necklaces and keep them tangle free. Voila!  And, here it is in my closet.

You can buy this from Amazon for a steal ($12):

Nothing says the holidays like a Black Lace Sheath

My birthday is right around the holidays and so is my Mom's. My sister and I took her shopping for her birthday and of course I found something for myself (on super duper sale at Bloomingdale's I might add.) A great black lace sheath by INC International Concepts (pictured below). My sweet mother bought it for me (thanks mama) and I paired it with black tights and gray suede pumps to create a great look for Christmas.

This dress can work for a party, dinner date, and I can even pair it with skinny jeans and black boots which I discovered in the fitting room when I didn't take off my jeans. The back features an exposed zipper which is very on trend. Love it!

Although the one I bought (above) is sold out online you may be able to find it in the store, I found a few other similar dresses at good prices.

Beauty Rave - Givenchy Foundation

Well my Sephora purchases arrived (a little too slow for my liking since I have been spoiled by Amazon Prime) and I have been very pleased with all of my beauty buys.  The Urban Decay Naked Palette is fantastic.  The colors are neutral but still vibrant (if that makes sense) and not too sparkly (sparkles on any fine lines make them look 10x worse.)

The Ouidad leave-in conditioner definitely locks in the moisture -- and smells wonderful -- so I would recommend for those of you with curly and/or dry, damaged hair.

I have yet to try the liners...

One (smart? crafty?) thing Sephora does is include 3 samples with your purchase (ah the marketing) and I selected the Givenchy Photo Perfexion Foundation.  I LOVE it.  I have been a long time fan of Chanel foundations since I used to "borrow" some of my mom's long ago.  But, this may have it beat.

It is smooth, creamy, the right amount of moisture and SPF 20.  I have been extremely happy with it the last 2 days I have used it.  So, yes, Sephora, your darn samples worked and I am buying.

At $47 it is not cheap, but foundation lasts a very long time and, to me, worth it.  Especially if you do not wear it daily.  (And sadly, I am used to Chanel prices.)
