So I probably sound like a ton of excuses BUT after our house weathered colds we were hit by the stomach flu. Seriously, can I catch a break. Anyway, that is why Stylish Dish has not been dishing so much lately. I will say I am "back in action" again and hope that it doesn't jinx me and we are all hit by scurvy. I am stocking up on Citrus Fruits at this very moment.
So to get back in the swing of things I styled a look for myself for a few business trips in the spring. This look combines an eyelet pencil skirt from JCrew with a navy chiffon blouse, ruffled cardigan with belt, and great strappy shoes from Aldo which are an amazing deal on Clearance for $44 and change. I want every piece of this look and may just pull the trigger on all of them!
I always gravitate for skirts for work. I just don't wear them so much in my casual personal life so I take every and any opportunity to wear a skirt.,
What are your work staples?

Stylish Deco
First I need to apologize for my delinquent blogging. I have had a house full of sickies (including me). I have been curling up with Kleenex, Decongestant, and my Pillow Pet as opposed to my usual laptop and fashion mags. But, the good news is...I am on the mend and ready to browse, shop, and dish!
Whenever I shop for jewelry or accessories I tend to move towards things with an art deco style. So, I decided to do a little homage to art deco for any of you who like this eclectic style too.
The vertical bar ring was from Max and Chloe inspired this post. I love it! And, you will find that Max and Chloe make a lot of accessories that can be considered art deco. This dress by Nicole Miller also has an art deco feel. Super cute with tights!
What is art deco you may ask?
Art Deco is an eclectic artistic and design style which had its origins in Paris and originated in the 1920s. Art Deco affected all areas of design throughout the 1920s and 1930s, including architecture and industrial design, as well as the visual arts such as painting, the graphic arts and film. At the time, this style was seen as elegant, glamorous, functional and modern. It is characterized by zigzag forms, sleek use of straight lines and slender form and the use of chrome and plastic ornamentation.

Stylish Picks: What I am Loving Today
Browsing fashion magazines and online stores is my pastime (as you likely know). A few items have jumped out at me and I am highlighting them here in case you want to jump on the style bandwagon.

Still loving the suede platform pump...this one has a cute ruched heel detail. Love it! ON SALE too. (Limited inventrory so if you want them, act fast!)
I have always been a fan of the hobo style handbag. I love this suede and leather one.
I have my eye on dogtag style necklaces, here are a two great options at very different price points.
Teal has been my new trend for nail color. If this seems bold at first, start with your toes and work your way up.

Trend Alert: Shorts with Tights
Maybe it doesn't sound so appealing at first glance, but I am really loving the shorts with tights look and the "evening shorts." Its a great way to show off your legs without showing too much skin. You can find this look all over current fashion and celebrity magazines. Here is a sample...
Personally, I like the look of black or tweed shorts over tights. I am just not a denim shorts gal...especially cut off denim. Maybe it just reminds me of Daisy Duke or a high school car wash.
Some tips if you want to try this trend: keep the shorts loose and the top blousey. Skin tight has no place in this trend or you will look like a hoochie or a tap dancer. I also prefer a very dark opaque tight.
Now, this celebrity whom I am sure you know, did not follow the rules and looks like a hoochie tap dancer (and that is being very nice and generous.)
I gave this trend a try myself the other night on a Date Night with my husband.

He loved it.
I'm wearing:
Ella Moss Loretta Smocked Top
Black Tuxedo Shorts from Old Navy (last season)
Nine West Empryss Bootie
Hobo International Patent Clutch
Some short options...
Some blousey top options...
What do you think of short and tights?

Makeup Makeover - Beauty Finds with Reader Models!
My lil sister Haley and her best friend Verlicia asked me to do their make-up for their Winter Formal dance this weekend. It was a perfect opportunity to highlight some of the new beauty products I had recently purchased many from Benefit Cosmetics and Chanel.
These two gorgeous gals are 18 so they don't need much beauty help but as you will see from the pictures below, great can get even better! All of the products were used on one or both gals (among others) and I use all of them myself. As you can see, there are a mix of products for all budgets. (Links to the products if you want to purchase are at the end of the post.)
Now, on to the girlies. Thank you for being confident enough to let me post before pictures. Natural is beautiful too!
Can you guess which one is my sister? :) ha ha
Haley wanted a dramatic smokey eye with some blue mixed in to match her dress. She also wanted me to work on evening her complexion and the Lorac concealer, Chanel Pro lumiere foundation, followed by MAC Studio Fix (applied with a brush - not sponge)_did the trick. I used the budget friendly Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Rose Petal on her cheeks. I LOVE this product and its under $6!
Magic Ink liquid liner from Benefit and Browzings Brow defining kits were a must! Her lipstick is Viva Glam V from MAC topped with Loreal Coulor Riche lip gloss in Rich Pink. (Looks more pink in the picture or its just her naturally rosy lips shining through)
The product in her inner eye is a white gold liquid shadow from Chanel - Ombre D' Eau #90.
Now the beautiful Verlicia who we like to call Verlicious. :) Verlicia wanted a more natural palette so I went out and purchased a fabulous creme eyeshadow palette from Maybeline (yep - about $8!) Maybelline Eye Studio in Neutral Liasons. This is a new favorite product and easy to apply, all you need is your finger and a dream.
Verlicia is also wearing MAC Viva Glam V. Funny how one color can look so different on different people.
We also used Benefit The POREfessional highlighted in this post to even own the skin tone. I am a fan of this product!
Now for the final looks. Don't they look amazing? I hope you had a great time girls!
Haley is wearing my bib necklace in this picture but didn't actually wear it to the dance. Wasn't her style but I LOVED. I bought it from etsy seller: Ezza Exclusive
Now on to the products...

Feeling Ladylike
Ladylike jackets are a hot item this season. Think tweed, Chanel-like, and Jackie O-ish. but with a modern twist. Throw one on with slim cut black jeans, a simple cami, and platform pumps for a polished, stylish look. And, you can easily wear the jacket for a day at the office with black trousers or a pencil skirt.
I found the one below from Maxstudio. I love the detail and teardrop arms. And, it is on a super sale -- marked down to under $100 from $398! In fact, the jeans and shoes below are also marked down substantially. Click the links below the look below to snap them up.
