Steep vs. Cheap

Yes, a Stylish Dish version of Splurge vs. Steal. I had to jump on the bandwagon. And, I must admit that sometimes I am torn with what to highlight on my blog...pieces I TOTALLY love that may break people's bank OR more affordable pieces that may not be as fab. Luckily, I often find fabulous affordable finds. But, often I am faced with a dilemma.

Here I am featuring two similar looks both focused on a lace top (very on trend), jeans, and flats. A casual yet polished look that could work for a variety of occasions. (I just wore something similar to a friend' son's birthday party.)

The "Steep" look is my splurge and features items I was drawn to at first glance -- despite prices. The prices are a bit mixed because the dark dropped jeans from Citizens of Humanity are on sale (yea!). But the J Crew antique lace top and Tory Burch flats are not cheap at near and over $200.

The Cheap look is incredibly affordable totaling just over $50 for everything (yes, I am serious!) The top is from Forever 21, jeans by Jessica Simpson at Macy's, and flats from Urban Outfitters. You can't go too wrong at these prices.  (Although you can go a little wrong --  especially if the lace is itchy and the shoes uncomy, but worth a try, no?)

Will you buy Steep or on the Cheap?

Easy Breezy Summer Look

This summer look makes me crave an umbrella drink and a walk at sunset down the beach.

I would like to hear some steel drums and never even think about needing a sweater at night.

Can you tell my Hawaiian vacation is less than a month away?

A light, white cotton dress, like this one from James Perse, is a must have for summer and this one is simple and versatile. I love a bold turquoise piece with white.  Some nude gladiator sandals (or heels if you are feeling sassier -- or shorter) finish the look with ease. These Badgeley Mischka nude strappy heels are on a great sale for this designer...a beautiful, versatile pair of shoes.

Someone MUST buy this dress

I love everything abut this dress.  I love black and ivory, the easy silhouette, the geometric accents, the chiffon detailing...and the price (under $100).

I have a perfect occasion for it this summer -- an outdoor evening party for dinner and dancing in the Santa Barbara wine country.

If only they had my size....but it might benefit one of my readers.  So, grab it and I will forever be green with envy.  (Maybe I should buy it and just have it taken in?)

Look for a Summer Evening

My Spring obsession with dresses is moving into summer.  Dresses are just so comfortable.  And, I love ones that you can dress up with heels and a cute jacket or down with casual flat sandals.

The look below is perfect for an easy breezy summer evening.  I have been loving white, ivory and blush toned blazers this summer.  So cute and polished.  This dress is adorable and on a crazy sales.  I am abut to head to online checkout with it but and worrying about the length on my 5'11" frame.  But it is under $40 marked down from $130 -- a serious buy.

A nude strappy wedge sandal can be a summer staple.  And, I love this turquoise clover pendant.

You could mix up this look with a colored shoe. They make this same Dolce Vita sandal in turquoise but it is sold out...for now.
