Fall Staples

I am very excited about the chill in the air.  And, I have done a little closet purging to get rid of all the old outdated sweaters and styles from days of old so I can have a good excuse to shop for new wardrobe staples.  The look below is a casual everyday look with a number of reusable staples. (OK maybe not everyday if you aren't a heel gal, but throw on some flats and it will look great too!)

A comfy cocoon cardigan (in navy), dark skinny jeans, taupe suede booties (great deal -- I bought them!), a casual tee, and dark red hobo bag.  Each item can be worn over and over.  Easy, comfy, and effortlessly stylish.

Daytime Dressy with Fall Trends

I put together this look with a daytime event (like shower or luncheon) in mind.  It incorporates many elements that are great for Fall: belted cardigan, jewel toned shoes, chunky heel, and polka dots.

I posted these shoes before and they are making another appearance because I l-o-v-e them and they are now on sale and under $100 at Nordstrom.

The polka dot dress is adorable and can be wore many ways with layers. (on sales and only 2 sizes left at Bluefly).  And, a cream/ivory cardigan is a must-have wardrobe staple.

Beauty by Office Depot

Yea, you heard me right.

If you are like me, you struggle with keeping your "stuff" in order.  And cosmetics can be downright messy. Oh, I always have good intentions.  I want my bathroom to be a well organized beauty vanity with a mirror framed with lights and elegant palette of cosmetics ready at my disposal.  Yea right!  A chaotic drawer with cases and brushes strewn about and a thin sheen of powder and blush on everything is more like it.

So, I decided to take charge and ORGANIZE!  I am not into the make-up "cases" -- just a way to stow it away.  I bought some interlocking drawer organizers from Target that never locked and were a pain in the a$$.  Then, I was shopping for office supplies for work and had an ingenious idea -- why not use desk organizers for my cosmetic drawer?!  And the rest was history.  I am pretty excited about it.

Only $15.99 at Office Depot.

Here is the link.  I am buying more, for sure.  (Note: the link has the correct description but the wrong stock photo.  I am not sure why the error.)

Any questions about the products in my drawer...let me know!  What do you use to organize?

Trend Alert: Lots of Dots!

The runways of the Fall Fashion Shows were spotty -- introducing a new trend for Fall 2011: Polka Dots.  If you are like me, you may instantly picture Minnie Mouse.  Or, your little girl's leggings drawer.  Don't.  Polka dots can be wearable even if you are older than 8 and younger than 75.

Marc Jacobs
Now you might not be gung ho enough to wear polka dots like the models of the runway, but polka dots can be toned down and translate nicely into your Fall wardrobe.

Below is a collection of polka dot tops and blouses that are very wearable (and for varying budgets.)

I also selected some polka dot dresses since dresses are also big for Fall.  Add tights, boots, blazers, or cozy cardigans to these looks to give them a Fall feel.  Click the links below...some of them are a steal!
