Camera Shy and Man Hands

I visit other fashion blogs.  For sure.  It is an addictive past time. And, if any of you out there do too, you know that many many bloggers feature pictures of themselves sporting their "outfit of the day" or "OOTD" or just showcasing their new finds.

I have been apprehensive to do this because 1) like any gal I am uber critical of myself in photos 2) I don't want this blog to be all about me 3) I am not a photographer and 4) I often just don't have the bank roll to buy all the fabulous fashions out there so I can model them for y'all. Plus, I am not a size 0 mannequin (I guess that is #5).

But, I did take a poll of some other fashion blog enthusiasts and they all unanimously agreed they really liked to see these pics on the blogs they visit.  And, I must admit, I am curious about the bloggers behind the blogs I visit.  So, I will relent and give it a beginner's whirl.

My first attempt at showcasing my favorite recent bargain  -- this ruffled floral cami from none other than Target paired with a cozy chunky cardigan (I was pretending it was not 90 degrees her in SoCal -- insane) resulted in the following...

Photographer, I am not.  Must turn off flash.  And someone clean that mirror please.

The next try was a smidge better except you can see my "man hands" (I have big ones) and the dressing room door here looks dingy...like I was shopping in a school room built in 1975.  I wasn't, I promise.  You do get to see my favorite recent purchase...the Canon PowerShot G11 camera.  As soon as I learn to use it I am sure I will love it. (At this point I am sure I am only using it to 5% of its potential...like most people and their brains.)  And, you get to see my gel manicure (remember this post -- I am hooked) in metallic grey that has been chipless for days on end.

Back to the fashions.  I do highly recommend this cami for a steal (under $20).  It is breezy and comfortable and the ruffle makes it perfect under a blazer, casual jacket, or chunky cardigan as pictured.





And, everyone needs a chunky cardigan this fall...the kind you can snuggle it and pull the sleeves down over your hands.  Like this one...




I was wearing a charcoal grey slim cargo pants and a cage sandal/bootie with this. But, a pair of your favorite jeans and boots would look great too.

Onto perfecting my self-photography skills -- maybe I will even manage to get my entire body in next time.
