Family Photos

I just booked a session with a photographer friend to take family photos. I swear I used to be photogenic and I like myself in pictures (most of the time) but lately I find myself just too darn critical. The perfect outfit will help that, no? A “hello I am a glowing youngish mom of two who looks casually elegant and deliriously happy” look.

For this photo session I have vowed that I will:

• Not make all of us all wear jeans and either black or white shirts — been there, done that. In fact, I think everyone who has had engagement or family pictures has

• Not smile too big so I look unattractive (I call it the Skeletor smile)

• Not be too vain when choosing pictures and will look at how everyone looks in the picture…not just me

• Embrace color and not insist that all prints be black and white

I have decided that I will incorporate shades of blue in all of our looks. Mainly because my little girl and boy have the most beautiful baby blues and they are what these pictures are all about after all.

So, for me….

As an alternate (or costume change), I bought this one shoulder top from Sweet Pea for a fabulous deal ($25! Regularly $58). I purchased it at RueLaLa.

If you are not familiar with this site it is an online boutique that has limited time sales on major designers. It is by invitation only and you have to act fast when the sales are on because things sell out quickly. You are officially invited (by me)…so click here.

UPDATE: I purchased the Ella Moss top pictured and received it days later from BlueFly. Love it! The jersey fabric is flattery and comfortable. And the cobalt color is incredible.
