Summer Vacation – Sightseeing, Walking the city

This look was inspired by a friend of mine who is traveling to the South of Spain and Morocco this summer (uh…so jealous that she will be Rocking the Kasbah). She e-mailed me for some fashion advice and I quickly recommended a skirt. In many parts of Europe (especially the more Catholic countries, like Spain) women must wear a skirt to any cathedrals, churches, etc.
I learned this first hand when I traveled Europe in my early 20s. I made the trek out to the Vatican in a micro-mini (It was the 90s and sweltering in Rome) and was denied access due to too much leg. The Vatican was beautiful from the outside…and I did get a tan.

When traveling in the summer think light weight and separates that you can mix and match. And please, please, please ditch the shorts, T-shirts, and Tevas. Just because you are traveling doesn’t mean you should look like you are straight out of an REI catalog. Madrid, Rome, Paris, Marrakech, these are cities not campsites.
